Our History

Orchard Valley Christian Church originally began as Agape Bible Church in 1978, under the leadership of Jerry Chung, when a group of Chinese-American families from San Francisco moved to the Silicon Valley and recognized the need for a church. As people of Asian-descent increased in the valley in the ‘80’s and ‘90’s, Agape Bible Church changed their name to Orchard Valley Christian Church in 1993, establishing itself as a multi-cultural, multi-generational English-speaking ministry. In January 2005, Curt Ogawa was hired as OVCC’s lead pastor, followed by Joe Castillo in August 2006 who now serves as associate pastor. During this time, Orchard Valley has steadily grown, while adding new leadership, a home group ministry, a refocused youth and children’s ministry, overseas mission opportunities, and a compassion ministry.
