Suggestion for S.I.P.

Dear Orchard Family, are you looking for something to do this week while sheltered at home?  Here are two suggestions to consider:

1. Discuss race with your family. In a recent survey, only 13% of Asian Families have ever discussed race as a family. We found the discussion we had with our children enlightening.

Family Life Ministries sent out an article on how to talk about race with your family from a Christian perspective.  Here is the link:

https://www.familylife.com/articles/topics/life-issues/challenges/cultural-issues/should-we-talk-to-our-kids-about-the-death-of-ahmaud-arbery/

2 Support a local Black or Latino small business owner. Take a drive. Enjoy great food. Help someone stay in business. Here are two examples that my family likes:

a.     Jon Jon’s  BarBQ. San Jose (Excellent Food in former Gas Station w Christian owners. I see them reading their Bible on breaks). Take out.  https://www.yelp.com/biz/jon-jons-san-jose-4

b. Corazon Mexican Cuisine, Sunnyvale (Recently opened in a small shopping center. Excellent Regional Dishes. Their Mole is my favorite) Curbside pickup. https://www.corazonsv.com

More ideas will be coming out next Monday on how to support those in need while sheltering at home.

Stay safe and well.
