Orchard Valley desires to be more than a church with a missions program. We seek to be a missional church. This means that our mission field begins the moment we step out our front door and we view ourselves not merely as senders but as a “sent people” to the world where we live. Our mission field then extends to distant nations as we work in partnership with missionaries in China, Mexico, Thailand, and the Philippines. Our partnership with our missionaries includes sending short-term mission teams to help serve in various capacities. In addition to these endeavors, OVCC also partners with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship on the college campuses and with the JEMS Special Camp ministry for the developmentally disabled.
Build Baja 2018
It’s that time of year again to turn our hearts to those in need in Colonia Vicente Guerrero, Baja Mexico. This will be our 6th year going to Baja and 7th house build. We are sending a team of 13 intrepid souls and will be partnering with Youth with A Mission (YWAM) for the first time. We depart for Baja from the San Diego Airport on Sunday, July 22nd, and return on Saturday, July 28th. We are also pleased that three new members will be joining us this year: Mark and Andrea H-Kahn and Toby Wong.
Our plan this year is to build a 3-bedroom house for the Martinez family, who have 3 children ages 7, 4 and 2 years old. We also plan to visit each of our build families from previous years, to see how God has been working in their lives.
Would you please pray for us as we prepare for ministry in Baja? Our final Team meeting is Sunday, July 1st. Pray for God to open the hearts of the people we will be meeting during the week as well as the family that will live in this new home. Pray for our team to work together in unity and be focused on God’s purposes. Pray for health and safety as we will be driving the local roads, doing construction and adjusting to the local diet. Pray that we go with open hearts to serve the people in Mexico and be open to whatever God wants to teach us.
Build Baja 2017
Our church is once again privileged to send a short-term missions team to minister in Colonia Vicente Guerrero, Baja Mexico. These trips have been such a blessing to the families we serve as well as our team. This year, we are sending a team of 16 and will once again be partnering with Wintersburg Presbyterian Church. We will be departing for Baja from Santa Ana on Sunday, August 6th, and returning on Saturday, August 12th. We are also pleased that four new members will be joining us this year: Patrick and Keala Johnson, Susannah Chun and Charissa Yuen.
Our plan this year is to build a 3 bedroom house for the Cuello-Gonzales family, who have 2 young children ages 6 years and 6 months. We also plan to visit each of our build families from previous years, to see how God has been working in their lives.

Build Baja 2016
Our church has been blessed these past three years to send a short-term missions team to minister in Baja, Mexico. These trips not only blessed the people we ministered to, but our team as well. Last year, we sent a team of 16 people to Mexico to spread the love of Christ. Once again, we partnered with Wintersburg Presbyterian Church in Santa Ana. We left for Santa Ana on Saturday, August 6, 2016, departed for Baja on Sunday, August 7, and returned to Santa Ana on Saturday, August 13.
What did we do in Baja? Our top priority was to share the love of God with the Oaxacan people of Colonia Vicente Guerrero, Mexico through the construction of a home for a needy family and discipling local people we’ve ministered to in the past. Through our words and our deeds, we wanted to spread the love of Jesus and His saving grace to those who do not know Him yet. In addition, we learned to work, live, and love one another as a team in Christ, in the ways demonstrated for us in the book of Romans.
